Mc Reset For 2008 17 El Capitan
For those older Macs that do not meet the hardware requirements for macOS Sierra, this El Capitan link in the App Store remains available.
.This system can run the last version of OS X 10.8 'Mountain Lion', OS X 10.9 'Mavericks', OS X 10.10 'Yosemite' and OS X 10.11 'El Capitan' including booting in 64-bit mode. However, it does not support OpenCL nor does it support AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring (which also requires a 2nd Gen or later Apple TV), Power Nap, or other advanced.
- OS X El Capitan remains available for Mac computers that can't upgrade to macOS Catalina, Mojave, High Sierra or Sierra, or that need to upgrade to El Capitan first.
- OS X El Capitan was revealed on June 8, 2015, during the WWDC keynote speech. It was made available as a public beta in July and was made available publicly on September 30, 2015. Apple described this release as containing 'Refinements to the Mac Experience' and 'Improvements to System Performance' rather than new features.
- To download El Capitan, you will need to have access to a Mac computer or Virtual Mac to download it. Operating system OS X El Capitan is available for free over the Mac App Store. But you can't find it in new macOS Sierra or Catalina, you can open this link with older version of macOS (Yosemite).
- Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac and new OS X El Capitan software I recently upgraded to OS X El Capitan for my Mac. However, I now cannot save Word documents because the screen that pops up for saving a new document, now has the 'save' button below the bottom edge of my screen. I contacted Apple support and they couldn't help.
El Capitan is bigger, runs more default processes, and may actually eat so much of that 4GB RAM that you won't have the required memory reserve to run some of your creative applications that you can now run on Mavericks. So, even though you can install El Capitan, from a bigger picture, should you on this old hardware?
You might consider a new(er)/refurbished MBP in your quest for current macOS features that can take advantage of the hardware, and better RAM expansion capacity. That does potentially introduce the spectre of expensive software updates though, so do some research on that front with Adobe and the CAD application supplier.
And finally, that 9-year old MBP has lived an exceptionally long life for that era Mac. I have seen multiple early 2008 MBP (at work) simply power off normally today, and not boot at all the next morning. They were not recoverable. All the more important that you use some form of system backup solution.
